''Top of the Pops'' Magazines.

There is most likely a medium close up of the famous artist on every magazine front cover. Looking at this example in particular Justin Bieber has full eye contact with the reader. This is direct address making this magazine appeal to you. The reason why they have used a male as the front cover is because the images of males is what attracts the females in particular. Any Justin Bieber fans who find this artist inspirational, especially females,will look at this magazine because it creates an attachment between the readers and the artist. This could reinforce the fact that the pop genre has diversity. The artist which is on the front cover is always quite current in the music aspect, which once again creates an interest base for the readers.

The image is most likely also placed against a plain background, this is in order for the dominant picture to stand out.

The fact that the artists are smiling creates a comfortable atmosphere for the audience. The imagery and connotations from the main image is bubbly, exciting and friendly.
